O-Rings
O-rings are mechanical seals in the shape of a torus or donut. They are typically made from elastomer materials such as rubber or silicone. O-rings are designed to create a reliable, compressible seal between two mating surfaces or components.
The name "O-ring" comes from the shape of the seal, which resembles the letter "O" when viewed from the end. O-rings have a circular cross-section, with a round outer diameter (OD) and a round inner diameter (ID). The ID of an O-ring is smaller than the OD, allowing it to fit tightly around a shaft or within a groove.
